My little pooch was thrilled to try Iams ProActive Health Senior Plus dog food. So when the brand offered to let me try the product for free, I was definitely on board. Although I did not have to purchase the product, all my opinions are my own (as well as my dog's reactions). At first, the little guy was thrilled to devour the food. He really seemed to like the taste and promptly emptied his bowl. Although it is dry dog food, it doesn't seem to be too hard, which is important since my dog is almost 12 years old and doesn't have the strength in his teeth that he used to. Overall, he was pleased to eat the food everyday but I did notice, over time, he became a little less enthusiastic about the flavor. This happens with most foods, though. He tends to get a little tired of the flavor after having the same kind of food for a while. However, I am pleased by the fact that the first ingredient is chicken, and not a corn or wheat filler. I felt good feeding him this food because I felt like it was of better quality than other brands. Although I will probably still switch out foods every now and then to give him a little variety in his diet, I plan to add Iams ProActive Health Senior Plus dog food to his regular diet by purchasing this product in the future. Unfortunately, my dog didn't like this food. He refused to even touch it. I even tried to encourage him by putting slices of chicken on top, but he just ate the chicken and left the Iam's dog food where it was. My dog primarily eats all-natural, organic dog food. I was initially leery of this dog food because I noticed it had some ingredients in it that I'm unfamiliar with. I was concerned, even before my dog decided that he didn't like it, that it would give him allergies or upset his stomach. I gave this dog food to my sister. She has two daschunds. She said that one liked it, but the other did not. Overall, due to the fact that my dog was disinterested in it, and because I'm concerned about some of the ingredients, I wouldn't recommend this to dog owners unfortunately. I think it would be in Iam's best interest to make a higher quality dog food with organic or at least natural ingredients that would appeal to people who own dogs with sensitivities and allergies. I think that people are becoming more and more aware of the disadvantages to the lower-end dog foods and the health conditions associated with them. I think that Iam's tends to be a trusted and popular brand, so if they offered another line of higher-end dog foods, people would probably embrace it. We rescue Daschunds and now our two are 11 and 15 years old. They love the taste and still maintain a good weight. Thank you IAMs for a reasonable price and a quality product.
This is my dog's favorite food. He is an 8 year old yorkie, so the small size is perfect for him. However, I can't find the "mini chunks" ANYWHERE! This is ridiculous. Would give it 5 stars for quality, but 0 for ease of finding!
My Pomeranian is a very picky eater. Lately I've notice his breath is deadly like his farts. I decided to switch his food to Senior IAM. Give him a handful he end up tossing it like a ball and rubbing his back against his bed. Thought he was choking lol instead, he was actually enjoying every piece of it. Also, his breath smells 90% better. THANK YOU IAM. I no longer leaning back everything he jump on me. He is loved lol
We've been buying IAMS Sr. Plus for several year since our mixed breed reached 11 years. Our vet says it has everything she needs for her joints, diet, etc. She'll be turning 15 this month and is still active for her age.
I received this as a sample from pinch me! For my dog and he is a yorkie mix.He was not that impressed with it at all.
I have fed all of my dogs Iams. My two current dogs are now on the Mature formula. I have to pull my hands away when I put the bowls on the floor or I might lose some fingers. They finish it off in less than a minute and are ready for treats.
When we rescued our dog, he was 4 years old. We had him on Beneful. As he got older we noticed he was starting to vomit about every other day. Not to the point of losing weight, but just small amounts her and there. I changed his food to the Blue Buffalo brand, when it came out with its "real" this and that claims. I noticed a small change. Then my dog hurt himself last year and we took him to the vet. That's when I found out that he was a "Senior" dog. Lol. The Dr. recommended putting him on a senior dog food because of the arthritis and other old people things he was starting to experience. We did that in August of 2015 and except from the dog flu he had a month ago, he hasn't had any tummy problems and has the pep back in his step.
After a couple of weeks with IAMS Proactive Health Mature Small Breed it is amazing the difference it has made in our dog's energy, and I think has reduced some of his joint pain judging by the smoother way he's moving around. For the past three years he was always lagging way behind on our walks and pretty slow moving around the house. Now he's running and moving like he did 4 years ago. Amazing!
Doubled her energy level, improved her walking and running significantly in two weeks. Dog wakes me up almost every day at 3AM to eat more food. Amazing improvement with just a food change. Suggest you try just one bag to see if it helps your older dog.
My 6 year old Papillon seemed to thoroughly enjoyed this product.
