I recently decided to switch my cats diet from the bad stuff to a better, grain-free alternative. After scouring the internet, I decided to choose the Purrfect Bistro on my two cats, Loki and Vivi. Loki I had no concerns for, other than his weight. He'll eat whatever is put in front of him. Vivi, however, is much older and is a picky eater. But within 4 days of adding a bit of this food into their regular stuff Vivi was chowing down and loving it! Now I feed them the Purrfect Bistro by itself. They eat less but have far more energy. Between two cats one 4lb bag lasts up to three weeks which is much better than the 6lb bag of cat food I used to purchase that would only last me a week. I've already noticed Loki and Vivi's fur has become much glossier and softer and I'm happy to report that they're both playing and running around more often. Switch to this cat food was the best decision I've made in a long time!

My cat's have eaten the Before Grain Salmon (and chicken) for several years and have always done well on it - however they do not like this new Purrfect Bistro Salmon formula. They ate this in the beginning when I was able to mix it with the old BG recipe, but now that it's not mixed with the old recipe, they won't touch it. My cats have several different flavors to select from in their bowls, and my 'strictly seafood flavor eaters' have been eating the poultry flavor instead of this because they hate the new recipe so much. Merrick said they would continue to manufacture the old recipe Before Grain in both the Salmon & Chicken flavors, however I have been unable to locate any for purchase even on-line. I think it's a shame too since we all know how hard it is to find a decent food that they actually like, and how switching brands can cause problems like vomiting. Unfortunately we now have no choice but to try some different brands. I cannot imagine why they changed their formulas, they were one of the oldest and best of the non-grain foods available - and they had a very loyal following. And although I understand creating new recipes, especially when they're better, higher in protein, etc. why not keep the old recipes on the market too? (NOTE: Some of my seafood eater's are now happily eating Spot's Stew new grain-free seafood flavor, with no digestive issues. Unfortunately the protein content is quite a bit lower - which I solve by mixing together with some Wellness CORE cat food)

Comments about Merrick Purrfect Bistro Grain Free Real Salmon Recipe Dry Cat Food:
My bengal cat just turned one this past august and i'd been going back and forth about what adult cat food i wanted him to have him on. I knew i didnt want anything with fillers or "product of" labels on them. i wanted him to have something healthy and something he'd like. i like that theyre still small kibbles so its still easy to bite and chew. Not to mention before with the royal k9 kitten food i had him on during the first year he never went crazy over it and now as soon as i put it in his bowl hes eating! so thats def a good sign.

I have a 14-year old, diabetic kitty for whom I've tried a dozen kinds of vet-recommended and natural dry foods. Diabetic cats need high protein and low carbohydrate, but mine would barely eat the highest-protein brand available; it put her into remission (no insulin needed), but her coat and health showed she wasn't thriving. So after a lot of research, I tried this product--which she likes very much. Switching didn't upset her sensitive stomach at all, she now needs only 2 units of insulin a day vs. the 12 she needed on normal cat food, and her overall health and comfort are very good. I highly, highly recommend this product--but be sure to supplement with a good canned food to keep moisture intake up, and keep getting your kitty's blood sugar checked to make sure you give the right amount of insulin as your kitty adjusts to this diet.
I used to feed my cats the name brand supermarket foods. As they got older I noticed my Cecil would throw up at a frequency that would become every other day. I spent hours and hours on the internet to research a better diet for my cats. The more I read about Merrick the more I was inclined to try it. My cats are now on a diet of Merrick dry and wet food. There are no more tummy troubles and they really like the taste. They also have more energy and shinier, softer coats. I understand that the company has been bought by Purina. I hope you can reassure me that the quality, formula and source of ingredients will remain as they were. It is nice to buy a quality domestic product with no Chinese or other cheaper ingredients My kitties are happier and healthier on your foods. Please do not change what has made you such an excellent choice for my babies.
I just want to say that Merrick certainly did sell out. I can't believe you took away my ability to comment on your page just because I disagree with your selling out to Purina. This goes to show you that you did sell out to purina and don't want people to know. communism at its finest.
I've had great, success .no more hair balls, less litter clean up, and no more vomiting.being able to feed to all ages is a huge plus! I have 10 indoor cats of all ages from 2 to 23.
Wonderful product and my cats love it! Healthy looking coats and more energy
I have two picky little eaters and I had them on Solid Gold for a couple of years until they recently changed their product. I was looking for a cheaper substitute and stumbled upon the rave reviews for Merrick! I tried it and I plan on sticking with it! I hope they never change the recipe!
Since I started comparing what's in pet food products I have discovered many of the most advertised and well known use protein meal, grains and fillers within the first five items.
The Merrick I use for cats is grain free. It takes less to fill them. Their fur is thicker, less in the litter box, and they pick up less fleas. Just healthier over all.
An excellent product when comparing prices. Some of the less quality products are more expensive.
Petflow has good prices, packaging could be better.

We switched our 3 cats from another brand of dry food after one of the cats had crystals in her kidney. I took the packaging into the vet with us for their annual exam, she read the ingredients and approved! They have been eating this ever since and they love it! thank you for a great product!
I use your dog food and my picky eaters enjoy it. I also tried your dry cat food but found it to be very crumby after about 2/3 of the bag and then my cats won't eat it. I saw similar complaints on the internet?? Have you addressed this issue?
