I have an 18-1/2 yr. old tabby who is in pretty good condition considering her age. She has developed CKD so I'm really trying to give her a food with good human grade protein and overall healthy ingredients . She absolutely loves this food. I've never seen her eat anything this fast. It completely agrees with her and she's doing really well on it.

My very picky eater enjoyed the Before Grain turkey. And even better yet, she could safely eat it despite all of her food allergies. I was ecstatic that I'd found a food she could eat! Then all of a sudden, it was no longer available. I bought the new stuff hoping that the new formula wouldn't upset her tummy or cause her allergies to flair up. My cat didn't eat much of it, but I hoped she'd get hungry enough and just eat it. well apparently she ate enough of it to upset her tummy and cause her allergies to flair up. A trip to the vet later as she needed meds to get the vomiting to stop, I am on the hunt for a new food to feed her. Sure miss the old formula without alfalfa and cranberries. For a cat without as many food restrictions as mine, I'm sure this is a great food. But I know a lot of us feed these grain-free foods because we have pets with food restrictions and changing formulas does a whole lot of harm.

I like that Merrick is grain free without fillers. My cats like the taste. When Rafe was adopted his coat was dull and coarse. Now he's handsome sleek boy. I credit Merrick with the change.

great product?

Comments about Merrick Purrfect Bistro Salmon Pate Grain Free Canned Cat Food:

I have read that fish is NOT GOOD for cats, even though they love it. Knowing that, I bought this product to give them a treat from time to time - they like it. I didn't see any carrageenan, which is good - it causes inflammation, and the reason I am buying this product is because two cats have liver disease, one cancer. I think the food they have previously been eating may well have contributed to that. I have noticed that the fat cats lost weight eating this brand - no-grain pate. So far, so good. I gave it a high rating because it SEEMS to be good for them (in moderation, I am hoping), even though, as I said, fish is not supposed to be good for cats.

I have a special needs cat that has to eat canned food. This brand is the only one she will eat, pate only. The flavors she likes are turkey, chicken and salmon.

          Purrfectly delicious

          By

I have a 13 week old kitten who enjoys canned cat food and recently I decided to give her a can of Merrick's salmon pate canned food...she LOVED it and when I say loved I mean truly loved the product so much that she licked her bowl clean, she has never done that. I don't even have to wash it as it looks like it has never been used. She inhales the food. Needless to say, Merrick will now be her food of choice and mine, guess I better go shopping!

          great product

          By

When you open the can it doesn't even smell like cat food, and it looks good enough to eat. But ther real endorsement is Chrystal who is 12 year old and I could never get her to eat any can food, inculding other very expensive brands. She would always get something and cover it up and try to bury it. The first time I opened a can of this, she actually smelled it and came over, when I put it in a dish for her, she to my amazement ate all of it and licked the plate clean. I am now able to go give her canned food regularly. Thank you so much for such a good food and for using local products and keeping control of the whole process, it shows in the end product.

          HAPPY CAT!

          By

from Los Angeles, CA, United States

My little rescued feral has taken a quite awhile to adapt to eating nutritionally dense food. I preferred Weruva because there is more protein in it than any commercial wet food, but she doesn't like the texture and I found out they add synthetic vitamin K...a toxic product. I was very happy she loves Merrick Pate's...so much she eats the additional nutrients I add, instead of eating around them. I am ESPECIALLY pleased Merrick does NOT use the synthetic toxic Vitamin K that MANY so-called natural cat foods add. But my one star demerit is the addition of Alfalfa Meal and if it is being used as a protein supplement. These are the reasons I cannot wholeheartedly jump for joy over Merrick: "While alfalfa is high in protein, proteins derived from plants don't contain all the amino acids your carnivorous dog or cat requires. That's why pets require meat-based nutrition -- the protein in animal tissue provides a complete amino acid profile. Like soy, alfalfa contains phytoestrogens, which are plant estrogens that are well-documented endocrine disruptors. Alfalfa contains several saponins, which are glycosides with a foaming characteristic. Saponins are anti-nutrients, meaning they interfere with absorption of essential nutrients." Source: Dr. Karen Becker DVM I would happily pay a little more for a food that has all the protein my cat needs and can absorb and low carbs. Until that happens, Friends, I am still looking for the PURRFECT food! All the best, Suzan Green

You're food has done the impossible!

          By

from Berkshire County, MA, United States

I purchased a variety of wet food for my 17.5 year old cat because she needs to have some teeth removed. She hadn't eaten wet food consistently in the past but I tried Merrick the other day and she's been eating it ever since! Now for the impossible - my other cat, who has not approved or even tasted over 10 brands in a variety of flavors, has polished off the entire can of Tuna Pate!!! Today he is eating Salmon Pate! This is in addition to eating the Purrfect Bistro Salmon recipe dry. I'm so excited because he is chronically underweight because of hyperactivity and anxiety and adding wet to the normal amount of dry will help him gain weight. Thank you, Merrick!
