I started using this cat food when my slightly overweight female cat began having some stomach distress (frequent bouts of diarrhea). A vet recommended I check labels for higher protein content and lower grains/fillers. Premium Edge seemed the best quality for the best price, and both of my cats (the other is a slinky Siamese with no weight issues) love it. Along with one meal of wet food per day, they graze freely on this dry food and appear happy and healthy. (They are 7 years old). I highly recommend this cat food.

My cat really seems to love this food. She is not overweight, but I give this food to her anyway because it is such a high quality food for the price of the big-name junk cat foods.
Cats are obligate carnivores and must consume animal proteins, and lots of them. Some experts say that the ideal dry cat food should contain about 50% protein. Unfortunately, most of the large pet food brands only provide 30% - 32%, which is only slightly above their nutritional requirement, and often the only way to get a higher protein content is to pay upwards of $4.00/lb to get high percentages.
Premium Edge Weight Control offers a middle ground. 45% protein for well under $2.00/lb. The ingredients are of good quality too. The most common ingredient is chicken, the second most ingredient is a concentrated form of chicken (chicken meal) and four of the five top ingredients are animal proteins or fats. The food is low in fats and it avoids using any grains. It is simply a high quality cat food at a very low price.
