Without RC GI, Low Fat food, I don't know if my Zoey would be alive today. Two years ago she was diagnosed with IBD with possibly CIL as a secondary. She had stopped eating and her abdomen was bloated. She became lethargic and her bowel movements were watery. In addition to requiring certain medicines, diet is one of the main factors in controling this disease. The Vet at the university hospital recommended both the wet and the dry. We started Zoey on the wet, a little at a time, then as she began to heal, we added the dry. Since then, she is off her meds, and entirely on the dry food. She is healthy and her labs are very good and have remained so. I'm so grateful for Royal Canine.

I have mixed feelings about this food. My dog kept getting six over the last 6 months until the vet prescribed this for her. My dog was sick enough that she wouldn't eat anything but loved the taste of this food. It also cleared up her GI issues (which had gotten bad), but is chock full of chicken--to which my dog has a sensitivity. She is constantly licking her paws since being put on this diet and doesn't seem very energetic overall. I'm very thankful that it healed up her GI issues but I can't keep feeding her this food that has significant amounts of chicken in it. I wish there were a hypoallergenic version.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Gastrointestinal Low Fat Dry Dog Food:

About five years ago, my ShihTzu had problems pooping. She was always straining to go, but nothing was coming out. After a couple expensive trips to the vet, this dog food was suggested. Haven't had a problem since. It's pricey, but when you factor in vet visits, meds and the stress on you and your dog, it's worth the price. I just wish you didn't need a prescription to buy it.

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Canine Gastrointestinal Low Fat Dry Dog Food:

Our dog has irritable bowel syndrome, and this food was the best for him. We struggled for a while to find out what was wrong, and then how to handle this problem. He is an old guy, 14, and we were trying to make is last years comfortable. He is doing very well, no more pooping problems, and has good energy and joy of life.

            great all around

This food has been great for both my Boston Terriers. One of them has always had soft stools and the other one gains weight very easily. After trying several diets, this one has solved both issues, and my dogs love to eat it. Royal Canin makes superior dog food in nutrition, quality, and palatability. I'm an LVT, so only the best for my dogs. I'm hooked for life.

My furbaby developed Pancreatitis and was very sick for a few weeks. During her recovery she was put on Royal Canin Gastrointestinal Low Fat dry and wet food. She tolerated it very well, recovered quickly, regained her typical appetite and now, 8 months later, is completely back to her old self. I have 3 Maltese babies so I put them all on the same low fat diet and all 3 are loving the food.

When we rescued our pug, his foster and her vet found that this dog food helped with his stomach issues and we stayed with what worked.

My Labrador Kadie went on this dry food when she was having stomach issues. She took right to it...which was a wonderful thing for us! Our dog is family so what she loves, matters to our family!

My healthy, happy pug developed pancreatitis. He had stopped playing and was just not his perky self. After his diagnosis, the vet prescribed this food. Shortly thereafter, he perked back up and quickly started behaving like himself again. It is a pain to get the food because the vet isn't near my house or work, but it is definitely worth it!

My dog eats the Royal Canin low fat/gastrointestinal dry food because of prior issues with pancreatitis. When I had to switch her from her prior food, I did it in small increments. Shortly after I began this, I found she would ONLY the Royal Canin food. Thank you for making a food my dog loves :)
