I have a (now) 21 year old kitty who had major constipation problems for several years. We started him on lactulose 3 or 4 years ago which helped some but only produce a partial stool about every 3 or 4 days. Eventually we would have to take him to the vet for an enigma to get cleaned out. The vet had us switch to miralax which helped and was much easier for the cat to tolerate (no taste and not sticky) and that also helped some (about doubling his output, but still not normal). During a subsequent visit, a newer vet suggested trying the Royal Canin Gastointestinal food. I was skeptical. The has only ever eaten dry food and is very picky. We tried a bag and he loved it. Within 2 weeks he started producing normal stools and they are at intervals of about 1 stool every other day. Much more regular than he has been in years. Royal Canin is a home run!
My 10 year old cat recently had surgery to fix a blockage in her intestine. After surgery she would not eat and my vet recommended the Gastrointestinal diet. This is the only cat food she would eat and is back to eating normally again. Since my cat liked the food so much I've decided to make this her regular food.
My cat is so very finicky and refused to eat anything but dry food. He had stopped eating his usual cat food an I asked my Vet to recommend something. He recommended Royal Canin Feline Gastrointestinal Diet. My cat simply LOVES this stuff!!
I recently switched from RC Urinary SO Fel to the GI diet due to some issues my older Himalayan was having. She had been on meds for vomiting and diarrhea for some time and was better, but not 100%. Within a week of putting her on this food she was gaining weight and having normal bowel movements. And the vomiting was gone! She has now been on the diet about 5 months and we have no more problems, except an occasional vomiting incidence (normal for her since she grooms a lot and has done this since a very young age). I am very pleased with all the Royal Canin products I have used from the kitten food, Persian diet, Urinary SO, and now the GI diet. Thank you RC for all of your wonderful products for my pets!
My cat did not do well on any of the foods I had used for my other cats in the past. He would have loose stools. My vet recommended the Feline Gastrointrstinal High Energy and it worked wonders. TJ loves it and it has taken care of the previous problems.
I adopted my first kitten (now 8 months old!) a few months ago and no matter what food she was on she had issues. She'd have bad gas, really stinky poops and threw up a lot. She has some other health issues we're working through but she started throwing up more frequently. She was on multiple high quality foods before my vet recommended this one! She loves it! In fact, my roommates cat tries to steal it from her! The only downside is that it's extremely pricey. But my kitten has not thrown up since the switch (and my vet even recommended a fast switch because she was on a antispasmodic). As an added bonus, her litter box doesn't smell nearly as bad! So I'm keeping her on this brand for the rest of her life :)

Comments about Royal Canin Veterinary Diet Feline Gastrointestinal High Energy HE Dry Cat Food:
Spike has had gastrointestional issues his whole life. After 8 years and a new vet and 7 1/2 weeks in the hospital he was finally diagnosed, treated and put on this food. He has never been healthier.

My cat developed massive diarrhea, hundreds of dollars later at the vet, we started her in this diet and she is loving it, putting on weight and her diarrhea is finally gone! Love it!
I work at a vet's office and bought this at the recommendation of one of the vet's. My cat has had IBD for the last couple of years and it has been difficult finding a diet that doesn't aggravate his condition and is palatable. We switched to Royal Canin's Gastrointestinal HE line and have seen a difference. He still has to be on meds for his IBD, but the food is the only thing he can eat and keep down, plus he likes it. I'm very satisfied with this product!
I rescued two kittens nearly two years ago, brothers, they weighed in at 2.5 pounds and 3.5 pounds..At 2.5 pounds this kitty wasn't thriving and the rescue felt he may do better at home so I got to take them home with me. They were prenamed Allie and Barley, and were almost 2.5 months when I got them. After visiting our Vet, he put them on this food - they have never had stomach issues, their health has been wonderful and I attribute this to a good balance of this nutritious dry and variety of wet foods.. My vet says the dry food is the most important for their nutrition and health and that wet is very important for gaining additional water, but not for the nutrients.. My babies now 2.5 years old are a healthy 19 and 21 pounds and they are in great health. They love the smell of the food every time I open the bag they come running. I think it amazing that in 2.5 years, they never tire of this! this speaks volumes to me when it comes to finicky kitties. So good job Royal Canin!! Thank you
