I purchased the Honest Kitchen Embark for my 8 month old Sheltie. I had her on several other foods (canned and kibble) however, we are dealing with a weight issue and yet, as a puppy I didn't want to put her on a weight loss food. Just not wise for my puppy. So after several attempts at different foods and she continued to gain weight, (and fast) I gave the Honest Kitchen Embark a try. Well, to my surprise (because I wasn't convinced anything would work at that point) she has lost 3 lbs in the last 4 1/2 weeks and loves the food. I followed the advice of the guys at the Honest Kitchen as to how much (they just told me to use the normal amount for her desired weight and add a little extra water) and it worked. She gets a very healthy diet, a healthy amount of food, has lots of energy and is now at a more normal weight for her age and size. 3 lbs. doesn't sound like alot to some, but she is a short Sheltie and the extra 5 lbs she was carrying really showed. Yay! Healthy food! Healthy weight!

Apparently, both my dogs, a not-quite-2 year old mixed breed and a 12 year old spaniel mix, would rather starve than eat this food. I have tried mixing it with food I know they like but still, it sits there for 2 days uneaten. The ingredients are great, so no fault there; but all the nutrition in the world does no good if I can't get it in their stomachs. So, if you have a picky eater, I would not advise buying this.

Comments about The Honest Kitchen EMBARK Turkey and Grain Free Diet Dry Dog Food:

Early on, our basset puppy had some issues with her anal gland. She was already eating a high-quality food with added fiber, but perhaps she needed even more? Our vet recommended this product as an additive to her kibble. Betsy loves the taste/smell of Honest Kitchen and it completely cleared up her anal gland issue. It is a bit pricey, but it does have lots of wonderful ingredients and lasts a good 6-8 weeks. I've not owned a smaller dog, so not sure if this is appropriate for them, or not. This food is the best food I've fed my dog. My 10 yr old chug is doing so good on it. Pet food is my passion and I now have a new favorite brand. My dogs eyes have cleared up so much they use to weap a bunch and stain, not any more.

My last precious dog died from cancer...because she had severe allergies and went to an Allergy Vet and we had no choice in what we fed her. I wanted Honest Kitchen and was told it is not good for her and I know that is not true. I am now feeding this to my new rescue and she loves it...her coat is shiny and she has lots of energy and I don't have to worry about cans with BPA or gross added ingredients.

I love this food! I use to use Merrick grain free but my dog started to throw up from Merrick so I've switched to this and also cook for her. She's a 19 lb chug I give her this food in her breakfast ( 1/4 cup dry, 1/3 water) I like to do it for the breakfast feeding so she gets the extra nutrients for the day ahead. This food is spendy but well worth it! My old girls eyes have cleared up and don't have the old dog blue tint anymore!!!

My 2-yr-old adopted Corgi needed to have glands expressed every 5 weeks; one vet said "that's just the way it is with some dogs". I believed a diet change would help, so after trial and error with advice from natural pet stores, this food is the clear winner. From the bottom of my heart (and my dog!!), THANK YOU!

Our Welsh Springer Spaniel is not a picky eater. He has been on several grain free dry foods and seemed to like almost all of them.
However he was scratching frequently, and I thought it might be food related. I got some samples of Honest Kitchen. Our dog enjoyed them, so I ordered Embark. He loves it, and the scratching has greatly decreased. I do think he poops more, but it is well formed and easy to pick up. This is obviously our dog's favorite food out of many tried. He watches as it is mixed. Usually we set a timer for the hydration, and he runs to the feeding spot when he hears that timer!

I tried different samples of Honest Kitchen at my local pet store. They liked this one. My goldendoodle eats his kibble really slow. My poodle takes bites of kibble and deposits piles of it to come back and eat later or for me to walk on and ground into bits. So, I bought this to entice them to eat faster and it worked. We mix 1/3 to 1/2 cup of Embark+water with their kibble and it is gone in 15 minutes. No more piles of food all over the house. They really like it!!
