My cats really do enjoy this food, and I feed it to help provide variety for them. For a while I was feeding Wellness Chicken (and also the Turkey formula) as the primary food, and have chosen to feed it less often because Wellness still uses food grade carrageenan in their foods as a thickener. There has been research showing eating a lot of carrageenan can cause health issues (both humans and animals) and I decided it was important to limit how much exposure my cats (and myself as well) will have to this ingredient. Also, Wellness Chicken has a high level of fat as a primary source of calories, and ideally, cat food should be highest in real meat protein as the primary source of calories, then fat, then less than 10% calories from carbohydrates. So while my cats really like this food, it don't use it as my primary food.

My cats have been eating chicken Wellness since the day we brought them home. They look forward to their breakfasts and dinners. We get two cases of the 5.5oz cans auto-shipped to us from Petflow. We just received our latest shipment. The label and name was different but didn't think anything of it. It's got to be the same since it's on auto-ship right? WRONG. First Tash turned her nose up at the new food. We dismissed it and thought she just wasn't in the mood for wet food. Then she started complaining. She begged for it at breakfast and dinner but sniffed, looked at us with her big blue eyes, and then complained. Fancy is not as picky and has been eating the new stuff. We ran out to Petco to buy a few cans with the old label. Tash was happy again and scarfed down the entire plate. Over the years we've seen some consistency issues with the various batches of Wellness but overall, Wellness was a good brand that we felt comfortable feeding to our fur babies. I tried contacting Wellness. Never heard back from them. Contacted PetFlow and heard back immediately. Initially the rep said not changes to the product and no issues reported on the batch we received. I insisted something was different. The rep was able to confirm with Wellness that the formula changed. I've gone around town buying up cans with the old label so that I can feed my Tash while I research a new brand to switch her to. Now we noticed Fancy has been throwing up several times a day and her poop is unusual. We are used to her throwing up a hairball occasionally but we've been waking up every night to her barfing and we come home to barf every day. My cats hate change. They've been eating Wellness since 2010. Please go back to the old recipe.

Comments about Wellness Complete Health Natural Grain Free Chicken Pate Wet Canned Cat Food:

I feed this to two senior cats along with other foods. It used to be their only food and I preferred that but they chose to branch out and they're cats so...

It's a good quality food, little waste, they like it, it's a reasonable price and the large cans help so much when you're feeding more than one cat. I hope Wellness never stops making this!

NOT JUST NEW PACKAGING - NEW FORMULA

By

Comments about Wellness Complete Health Natural Grain Free Chicken Pate Wet Canned Cat Food:

My 10 year old cat has been on Wellness wet chicken and turkey from the day that my breeder sent her home with several cans. Upon opening my new case of food and noticing the package change I became leery and hoped that was the only change - my suspicions were immediately confirmed upon opening the first can. I was greeted by a very strange odor and the contents looked quite a bit different than what I had been used to. I put some in Gracie's dish and she started towards it as she was hungry but stopped short as she got to about 4 feet from it, stuck her nose up in the air and frantically began to sniff. She finally made it to the dish only to take a couple of licks and ran away. Why oh why would the Wellness people do this to their loyal customers without warning? Unless they go back to original formula, they have lost this loyal customer for good.

My cat loves it. I mixed it with her old wet food to ease her tummy through the transition. She picks through it and leaves the old stuff. I love that the first ingredients are real meat.

changed their formula

By

Comments about Wellness Complete Health Natural Grain Free Chicken Pate Wet Canned Cat Food:

Wellness has changed the recipe. My cat and several others I tried to feed it to, would not touch it. The pate is much darker in color. There is a dark gel around the pate, unlike the light liquid that used to be around the pate. It also has a different smell, and it does not smell like chicken. Why change the recipe?

My cat will not eat it.

Comments about Wellness Complete Health Natural Grain Free Chicken Pate Wet Canned Cat Food:

one of my dogs is eating the cat food but the other dog doesn't like it either. I think it's the texture, [not solid enough] but I don't know. I ordered two cases after reading the good ingredients and thought my cat would be thrilled.
