My dogs (boxer and a boxer-rhodesian mix) absolutely love the toy. They love ripping the squirrels out of the log, squeaking them and then going back for another squirrel. Lather, rinse, repeat. This is the only toy that gets played with every single day, even after 6 months. It's well-made and the dogs love it. Probably the best dog toy ever. Oh. My dogs usually rip apart stuffed animals, however they haven't ripped the squirrels apart, so bonus points there.

The idea is great and my Wire Fox Terrier loves the little squirrels (takes one to bed with her); however, she gets the squirrels out of the "log" in a few seconds. It is the perfect size for her but doesn't keep her occupied long unless I keep putting the squirrels back continually.

Comments about Outward Hound Hide A Squirrel Puzzle Dog Toy:
Well made, and my dog loved it! The squirrels are a bit small, but my dog has a small mouth so it was perfect for him

Intellectual toy but not very sturdy

I bought the large toy. the idea seemed fun entertaining and a great interactive toy to stimulate my 6 months old puppy. She kind of likes it but not crazy about it. After a couple of days however the squirrels started getting damaged... Not very durable. Small unattended dogs might get their head stuck in it. However the idea is great. A bit pricey for the not so durable quality.

She likes to try to get the squirrels out of the house, and plays fetch with them
By Chi Lover
I purchased one of these elsewhere and it got lost in the move. I was ecstatic to find one again! All 3 of my chi's love this toy. My mommy chi even carried them around and tried to feed them when she was nesting. It was adorable. One thing to watch for is smaller dogs stick their head into the trunk and occasionally run around with it on their heads.

My Rotts Luv These
from Reno, NV, USA
I've had the Bee Hive w/Bees, Duck w/Ducklings and the Tree Knot w/Squirrels and they lived through 3 different Rotts. The Duck has lasted the longest, all the babies died first. My now 4yo tore all but the duck apart within her 1st year, but she is tough on all toys and only allowed a tuggie when not supervised. IMHO this toy is great for teaching a dog to search for something. It's been about 5yrs since I bought one of these and hope this new one is made as well as before. I am hoping they have stopped putting the plastic whiskers on the squirrels, otherwise I'll be cutting them off.
Our dog tore it apart just like that!

We were very disappointed in the squirrel toy. It didn't work the way you said it would work. She got hold of it and just like that had the squirrels out - and I mean out, meaning disconnected. It looked bigger than it is. It is so small and the squirrels were very small. It was definitely a waste of money!!!

This toy is not made well. The squirrels are easily ripped out of the puzzle box.My 4 month old collie puppy had the first squirrel pulled out in less than an hour. My 7 year old papillon had the second one pulled out shortly after.I took the toy away the same day I got it.
