I found this dog food years ago when our beagle had horrible arthritis preventing him from climbing stairs and even standing. His condition left me to believe he had months to live. After switching to this food he got his youth back with the ability to run and chase rabbits. At this time both of our dogs were on this food (a beagle and a miniature border collie). After a matter of a few months (it probably occurred sooner) we noticed they didn't have to battle fleas. For years the dogs had been on this food with never a case of fleas (ticks - yes, but fleas - no). Our beagle lived to be 18 years old. By this time we also got a black lab. The border collie and the black lab were on this diet years with no fleas. Finally the local pet stores stopped carrying this food and they had to start on a different food. Within three weeks of the different food they started to battle with fleas. To me this is proof that this Healthy Skin - Vegetarian food prevents fleas. It worked on three dogs and it gave my beagle extra years of healthy life. That was the best gift I could have given to our family's "best friend."

I bought this for my overweight Pug mix who has skin issues. The problem is she doesn't seem to like it very much. She eventually ate it because she was hungry. My chihuahua would probably starve before she eats it. Anyone else have dogs not love this food? I think they are just used to the other food (Purina) and it's probably like eating fruits and veggies instead of sandwiches and cake! Hoping they will learn to like it.

Amazing

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Vegetarian Recipe Dry Dog Food:

We adopted my two year old American Foxhound mix from the local animal shelter. Before picking her up we bought her grain free pet food and treats. When we got her home she was having bowel issues and her coat and weight was not great. We attributed that to the shelter and to the adjustments she was making. Then it continued for a while and it turns out she had a poultry allergy. So we switched to a salmon formula. The bowel issue went away but then her weight ballooned and she was lethargic. We decided that we should try to remove animal products for a period and see what happened. WOW! Her weight dropped, her coat is amazing, skin has no issues, stools are great, and she is not as tired as she was. She goes on runs with me, no breathing issues at night, and absolutely loves to eat this food. No issues at all. I love the vegetarian formula and cannot recommend it highly enough.

Best food for sensitive dogs

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Vegetarian Recipe Dry Dog Food:

Our dog Lilly has been on this dog food for about 10 years now. She is half german shepherd half rottweiler and prone to skin issues. We brought her home with a different dog food, sure enough skin issues. We switched to this and the treats in venison and voila! No more skin issues. Our vet was so impressed she began feeding her dog this company's products. You know its good when a vet who has access to foods that only a prescription can get, says its the best. Everyone talks about her coat and how she never has skin issues. We tell them, we only feed her Venison Healthy Skin by Natures recipe. Try it you won't be disappointed.

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Vegetarian Recipe Dry Dog Food:

I was recommended this dog food for my Maltese. She is now 15 1/2 years old and is in excellent physical condition. Our 4 yr old Beagle mix also loves this food and is in superb shape. This food does not contain any nasty "bi-products" from meat factories. It's good to know that my dogs are getting natural food- food that will not result in cancer in the coming years.

The best food on the market!!!

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Vegetarian Recipe Dry Dog Food:

My Pomeranian mix, MeeMee, adores this food. I rescued her at age three from the Humane Society and brought her home eating Pedigree. After having her home a few weeks, she started having terrible dry flaky skin. I decided to take her off Pedigree and try something else. Purina was a little better, but her skin was still dry. That was when I read online about making sure your dog food lists a protein as the first ingredient. Neither Pedigree or Purina list protein first. Nature's Recipe fit the bill plus advertised "Healthy Skin" so I decided to give it a shot. Her skin is perfect now! I love, love, love this food and highly recommend!

The best dog food for dogs with allergies

By

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Vegetarian Recipe Dry Dog Food:

Our friends bulldog was staying with us for a week and this was his dog food. He had terrible allergies. At first I separated them to eat but then it became a nuisance and the dogs liked his food. So I bought a bag and fed it to all the dogs. Our poodle mixes did so well with this food. Our Doodle in particular had a much better time with his sensitive digestive system.

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Vegetarian Recipe Dry Dog Food:

My puggle has bad allergies and gets reflux. I am convinced this food has helped. She has fewer gland problems, and softer coat, and less episodes of upset stomach. I feed the small breed to her and my chihuahua.

Comments about Nature's Recipe Healthy Skin Vegetarian Recipe Dry Dog Food:

WE use Nature's Recipe Vegetarian Stew, which is canned, along with the Nature's Recipe kibble, and find both products to be superior. Our toy poodle is healthy and loves the food.It is a good alternative to the meat based foods, and I believe cleaner and smells much better!
