Comments about Nature's Variety Pride by Instinct Flaked Champ's Chicken Canned Cat Food:

My two cat's love Nature's Variety Champ's Chicken.

My first quest when finding a cat food for my two new friends a couple of years ago was to find a wet food that did not contain carrageenan. There is debate on whether carrageenan is as bad for pets as some people say and while I'm no vet/nutritionist/scientist I figured why risk it. So Nature's Variety was the one brand I ran across that my cats approved of.

At first I would buy them a range of Nature's Variety canned foods, whether it was from their Original line or from their Pride line of foods. They tried all different kinds of meats from both lines. My only gripe about the Original line is that the ones that I tried contained peas and chunks of carrots that my feline friends would kindly leave behind. Also the texture was quite solid and grainy so I would add a little bit of water for added moisture.

So my cat's basically went through a few months of trying this and that while I kept mental score on which ones they really went for and which ones they pretty much sniffed and walked away from (they don't like lamb but that's just their opinion). Champ's Chicken came out to be the winner of the bunch. It's healthy, moist and grain free. Plus, chickens are birds and cats like to kill and eat birds so it is as close as they can get to their instinctual prey which they have evolved to eat. They liked the flaked texture of Champ's more than the minced texture of Cheshire's Chicken. It seems meatier to them possibly?., Less like a meat smoothie. They can read my mind but I can't read theirs so that's just a guess.

So their meals for the most part center on Nature's Variety Champ's Chicken. That said, a few times a week I will feed them other canned types of Nature's Variety just so they have some… variety. I also give them small amounts of Wellness Core indoor dry food between meals (also grain and carrageenan free).

So yes, my two cat's love Nature's Variety Champ's Chicken and I love them.

Comments about Nature's Variety Pride by Instinct Flaked Champ's Chicken Canned Cat Food:

Pride by Instinct is a lower-cost line from Nature's Variety Instinct. It isn't 95% meat like Instinct, but it's still grain-free, gluten-free and made from good quality ingredients. I like it for its quality; my kitties like it for its taste.
